    Hi,
    Free Version: 1.5.22

    The backup seems to starts but not complete – that is files appear in the back up folder but the restore button is never activated.

    The only files that are created for plugins – as in they have plugins as part of the name of the file.

    I have added the rewrite rule to .htaccess and changed the wp-config file and now the warning about using a litespeed server has vanished but I’m still not getting a completed backup.

    Hi Karen,

    Adding the line mentioned in https://updraftplus.com/faqs/i-am-having-trouble-backing-up-and-my-web-hosting-company-uses-the-litespeed-webserver/ makes the LiteSpeed notice go away, but the going-away of the notice only indicates that you added the line successfully – it doesn’t reflect whether UpdraftPlus now expects the backup to succeed. Unfortunately there’s no way of working out which LiteSpeed users that fix works for.

    Further down the same page (i.e. https://updraftplus.com/faqs/i-am-having-trouble-backing-up-and-my-web-hosting-company-uses-the-litespeed-webserver/) there is another possibility that may work – please review and try that.

    Also – you appear to have posted this report only a few minutes after starting the backup attempt. UpdraftPlus has various strategies for resuming and continuing backups that appear to not have finished yet. Give it at least 90 minutes.

    Thanks for your reply.

    I forgot to mention that at the same time I added the other code too.

    I left it for several hours but those changes don’t work for me ?? I’ve contacted the hosting but they only have litespeed servers available.

    Any other suggestions? Otherwise I’ll have to do manual backups until the hosting gets changed.

    Hi Karen,

    No other ideas, I’m afraid – the problem is that LiteSpeed cuts long-running (more than a few seconds) connections. We know of the two fixes mentioned on that page, but if neither works then the only remaining options we know of are backup manually or switch to a web host that doesn’t use LiteSpeed (which is 99.99% of them, so they’re fairly easy to find!).

    Thanks David. I’m testing another backup plugin at the moment and that runs manually to perform backups so I’m waiting to see whether that will work with a scheduled backup.

    I like this plugin and will use it for other clients (who aren’t on litespeed servers).
