Files and Folders that get modified

  • I’m trying to install wordpress locally with getting the files, folders, and database to my laptop. However, there was a recent issue with downloads and some files somehow got deleted or modified.

    I’m wondering which files or folders along with themes and plugin folders and config.php get modified? Also, I know that database and config.php carries information about configuration, but are there other files that have configuration info? This would help me a lot with identifying the issue and where to look for.

    I’m really new, so sorry for any frustration caused! I appreciate any relevant information.

    /wp-content/plugins/
    /wp-config.php

    there are the user-configurable folders and files

    Thank you Tim! I also noticed images go to wp-content/uploads. So that’s a folder that gets modified by the user. Anyway, I’m glad I could move my website.
