    Hi

    Having been using your plugin successfully for many years, 3.4.3 still isn’t working right for me (and, I suspect, many others).

    I backup 50+ sites nightly to Dropbox. Since my Dropbox is finite in size, I’ve set the plugin to keep only the most recent version of each backup, so keep only 1 previous backup, with Dropbox’s 30-day deletion history covering me with a bit of redundancy.

    Whether it’s because the filename is still (in 3.4.3) different every day, or because the plugin isn’t successfully deleting the old file, my Dropbox is filling up every night and some backups are therefore unable to run. I then have to manually delete 40+ old backup files every morning, which is a drag to say the least.

    Thanks for your help.

  • I am running into the same issue with 3.4.3. Previous backups are no longer being deleted in a rolling fashion and kept running over night until it filled up the server’s disk space.

    Here is the log from the backup. We’re storing locally as well as on dropbox. I have sanitized all hash IDs, domain, dbname, and dates.

    BackWPUp 3.4.3 is backward compatibility with 3.4.1 and 3.4.2. If the job of is in the older version ( before 3.4.0 ), it’s would not working.

    For the fix,please re-create your backup job in 3.4.3 and then try again.
    Hope that helps!

    I have deleted and created new backup jobs and unfortunately this has not resolved the issue. I am still having the problem of it running the backup multiple times with a random hash for each file name until the drive is full.

    I have changed logging level to debug not translated for testing. I will let you know when the backup runs again.

    Thanks for the reply @duongcuong96, but I was using 3.4.2, and before that 3.4.1, and the archives are not being deleted correctly by 3.4.3. The filenames are all <site-name>_%hash%.tar.gz. Does %hash% need a leading AND trailing underscore?

    Although @joellisenby suggests that creating new backup jobs does not work, I can try that. Would I need to delete and recreate every backup jobs (doing that x50 will take quite a while), or simply re-save existing backup jobs?

    @marknjones,
    You just need to re-save existing backup jobs ??

    OK I just tried that, and agree with Joel that it still does not work. The old file was not deleted. Here’s the (sanitized) log:

    The one error seems irrelevant, and I don’t get that on other sites which are also not working. I did actually re-save some of the jobs when I upgraded the plugin, so that the filename had the structure I wanted, and those jobs are also not deleting the old backups.

    Hello again – any chance you could take a proper look into this please? The problem persists.
