• I can’t see paying for the ability to just sort the folders you create, but it is quite the PITA that the folders aren’t even alphabetical. I do notice that if you are on a post, editing it, and you have another tab open where you create a new media folder with FileBird, if you go to embed some media you upload to that new folder in the post you were already actively editing, it won’t work. You have to close out of the post after your create the FileBird folder, then go back in, then you’re able to embed the new media just fine. Other than that, decent for very simplistic organization – more than basic WP offers, of course.

*Review edited from 3 stars to 2 after publisher response. Why? I added 1 star because I didn’t realize the “bug” I mentioned is apparently in WordPress and not FileBird. I took away 2 stars because they reiterated that simply sorting alphabetically is a pro feature and honestly? You can’t make something and call it an “organization” tool without simple alphabetical sorting. Thanks for the reply, though!

**Review now dropped from 2 stars to 1. Rose wrote “Hi @bpascanner, Thanks for your time. This is becoming more like a support topic, please do not use reviews for other reasons. Cold you consider removing your review? Thank you.”

No. I will absolutely no remove my review, and this is not a support topic, it is most clearly a review of your plug-in. You’ve made something that is supposed to be an organization tool and you CHARGE for alphabetical ordering. Sorting alphabetically is in no part of the known universe a “pro” feature or a “premium” feature or a “paid” feature. To be quite honest, sorting alphabetically is such an extremely basic concept, it shouldn’t even be considered a “feature” it should just be an obvious inclusion. The fact they want you to pay for it? Nonsense. They had to write MORE CODE to randomize the order your folders are displayed in than if they just allowed them to be displayed IN THE ORDER I CREATED THEM EVEN. That’s right! This garbage plug-in doesn’t just make you pay to sort alphabetically, it RANDOMIZES the order in which it displays your folders. Just made a brand new folder and went to another page and came back? Surprise! It’s not at the end of the list, and it’s definitely not in alphabetical order, either!

Wow. This is becoming more like a support topic? Would I consider removing my review????

    Hot. Garbage.

    Hi @bpascanner ,

    Thanks for your opinion.
Let me just make some little clarifications…

    “the folders aren’t even alphabetical.”
==> That is possible, but just an extended feature in the PRO-version exclusive only:
    https://ninjateam.gitbook.io/filebird/filebird-library-left-section/file-and-folder-sorting

“if you go to embed some media you upload to that new folder in the post you were already actively editing, it won’t work. You have to close out of the post after your create the FileBird folder, then go back in, then you’re able to embed the new media just fine.”
==> This is pretty normal behaviour, this is not an issue at all, you can deactivate FileBird and try to check this case with the regular WordPress post update, its the same way.

    Kind regards,
    -Bruce-

Thank you for your question and first of all, please excuse our late feedback.

The folder structure doesn’t come ready in alphabetical order, because we realize that’s not the ordering that most WordPress users want to have. We simply allow you to drag and drop to re-arrange them to fit your own purposes. The free version also allows you to nest folders under parent folders unlimitedly, which other free plugins are not willing to allow so.

In fact, we are not trying to randomize the order of the folders just to enforce an upgrade. FileBird allows users to place a folder anywhere they want. Even from the start, you can select any folder to create a nested folder under it. You don’t want them to automatically appear in ABC order when you first created it, do you?

And when we add sort options for folders and files, we had to consider remembering your own organized folder structure so that you will be able to reset it to the desired state. Moreover, in grid view, WordPress media library by default only shows files in date order, we’ve doubled down on adding features so that you can have 10 ways to sort files in the Pro version. Is it not worth it?

We all respect your opinion. However, considering all the continued maintenance/support and our relentlessly new added features, I hope you can consider it and put back the review to its “decent” state, maybe? ??

    Many thanks for your support.
    Peace!
