File url / name characters limit ?

  • Hello, I need to upload files with very long names (images).

    I know that the size limit for url is about 2000 characters, which is a lot. Unfortunatly, windows character limit is 255 characters including file path!
    Windows registery can be edited to accept longer file names / path

    My question : can wordpress support very long file names or will it cause instability / issues ? Also, does ftp like Filezilla support more than 255 characters ?
