• I am trying to upload a file of a non standard file type (.reg) but am getting an error that security permissions do not allow this. I can’t find any place to change these settings, can someone please direct me?

    Thanks in Advance!

  • That might be a host/server setting…. You can try putting .reg in the list of allowed types in the upload settings, but if it still doesn’t work, you’d need maybe to check with your host.

    Where is this upload setting, I am unable to find it. Thanks!

    It’s in one of the wp-admin/options pages – not sure, I never use it…. miscellaneous maybe?

    Have a look at Peter Westwood’s mime-type config plugin… it allows you to set what types of file you are allowed to upload.

    @vkaryl – I think WP 2.x removed that one. :-\

    The plugin seems to have worked. I get an error when i click “Send to Editor”. What is this link supposed to do?

    Huh? Handy, I have at last count 18 2.0.4 installs for self and clients, EVERY ONE OF WHICH has https://domainname/wpinstallfolder/wp-admin/options-misc.php, which provides:

    Uploading
    Store uploads in this folder:
    Default is wp-content/uploads
    Organize my uploads into month- and year-based folders

    Track Links’ Update Times

    Use legacy my-hacks.php file support

    Ok. Thought you were saying “Allowed types” is still there in this thread.

    Which it isn’t.

    I’m probably just confused.

    Hi, just posting to thank everybody – I had the exact same problem, and Peter Westwood’s plugin fixed it in a jiffy.

    JohnMag4u: “Send to Editor” is supposed to insert the image into the editor. In HTML mode, it inserts the correct <img ...> code, while in the normal editor, the image is directly inserted into the image. I’m not sure how good the feature is on cross-browser compatibility, though.
