    Hi All —

So I think my sql is backing up okay with the plugin, though nothing shows in the bucket – (i could see it when I navigated to the file via ftp)

My content folder is ginormous — so not sure what to do about that or even how or why it got so big.

How do we specify which files to back up and/or which to ignore?

I’m sure everyone’s needs are different, so it depends.

What do absolutely need in a worst case scenario?

I could live without images, but not posts and perhaps (newbie talking here obviously) not “some” of the plugin data?

Sorry to be all over the place.

    Thanks,

    Jeff

PS this is what I see in my log:

You can’t specify which to ignore or not :/

It copies what’s in wp-content/uploads now and forever, and if that’s ginormous, then zip chokes (or rather times out).

219 MB is a MASSIVE database, though. I mean.. that’s CRAZY huge ?? You could probably do a SQL backup only, but that doesn’t help the files at all.

You’re still on shared hosting too, so that’s also going to be a major stop for the plugin with that big a site.

    Hmmm…

Thanks — maybe a dreamhost question, but I wonder why the database is so large? — The site isn’t that complicated – it has a membership plugin — perhaps that’s why.

But thanks for the quick response — at least I have the database.

    Nah, that’s a general WP question ??

The DB is large probably because of the plugins involved. I didn’t dive into the DB (I wanted to go for a run, sorry ?? ) but also if you have a lot of posts, you may want to limit post revisions (this is, I admit, less of a good idea these days with the cool new revisions tool, but if you find yourself having problems, it’s not BAD).

https://www.markomedia.com.au/delete-revisions-in-wordpress-howto/ has some directions. In general, I set revisions to 10, instead of none.
