    Can you tell me whether this plugin works only to restrict entire pages or if it can restrict access to uploaded files (e.g. practice audio files)?

    It will only restrict the entire page. So if those files are shown on that page, then it will restrict their visibility. But if the links to those files are available elsewhere, or someone guesses their URLs, they will be accessible.
