FIle Permissions

What file permissions are required in order to have W3 Total Cache running without intermittently being asked to execute commands? These are the errors I am encountering:
FTP credentials don’t allow to delete folder /var/www/oxoblog/public_html/wp-content/cache/tmp
W3 Total Cache Error: Files and directories could not be automatically created to complete the installation.
Please execute commands manually View required changes
or use FTP form to allow W3 Total Cache make it automatically.
