File Permissions

    I’ve just tried to install your plugin but I got the following error message:

    Error

    There was a fatal error loading WordPress Backup to Dropbox. Please fix the problems listed and reload the page.

    If the problem persists please re-install WordPress Backup to Dropbox.

    Error message: WordPress Backup to Dropbox requires write access to ‘/var/www/vhosts/>>my domain goes here<</httpdocs/wp-content/backups’, please ensure it exists and has write permissions.

    I deactivated, deleted and reinstalled the plugin but got the same error message.

    It wasn’t until I changed file permissions to 777 that the plugin would activate.

    My question: Is it safe to have a folder on my web server with file permissions of 777?
