File Not Found for ALL Digital Downloads

    We have read all previous tickets regarding this issue and have followed all suggested troubleshooting steps. However, after the last WooCommerce update, no digital products are available for downloads on our client’s site. All files are kept in the host account in a /downloads directory, and we have adjusted the Approved Download Directories multiple times, and eventually just turned off that feature (disabled all). Please advise.

    In order to check much better into this issue, we’d like to ask you to provide the following:

    Could you please share a copy of your site’s System Status? You can find it via WooCommerce > Status. Select “Get system report” and then “Copy for support”.?

    Are you receiving errors about this? Can you please share a copy of any fatal error log found under WooCommerce > System Status > Logs (if any).

    Once we have this information we will be able to check better. Thanks.

    Can you see if it works and the product can be downloaded by switching the file download method to “Redirect only (Insecure)”?

    Take a look at this post on how to fix WooCommerce file not found error.

    Does it work if you create a new digital test product and upload the test file to your approved folder /downloads/? Can you let us know?

    When we switch the settings to Redirect only, this is the message we receive from Woo:

    “Your store is configured to serve digital products using “Redirect only” method. This method is deprecated, please switch to a different method instead.
    If you use a remote server for downloadable files (such as Google Drive, Dropbox, Amazon S3), you may optionally wish to “allow using redirects as a last resort”. Enabling that and/or selecting any of the other options will make this notice go away.”

    Yes, the download link works with this method, but the file’s URL is fully visible, so that’s not ideal.

    Also, per the linked post to fix “file not found errors”, this is not an apache server (Google Cloud) and there are no spaces in the file name or link.

    We have the same error on new or old products / new or old file links.

    In your original comment, you mention we have adjusted the Approved Download Directories multiple times, and eventually just turned off that feature (disabled all). Can you double-check if you have fully disabled the functionality in the Start/Stop Enforcing Rules button highlighted in the image below? When the feature is disabled, it should read “Start Enforcing Rules”.
