    I am a relatively new WordPress user. Last weekend I began having issues because my site wouldn’t load. When I would try to go to the URL or to my admin page, it wouldn’t load and would just time out.

    Over much discussion with my web host, the conclusion is that there is some file that is triggering mod security. I can access my files, but that’s about it.

    I do not really know where to even start in looking for the problem. I am assuming a plugin or theme that was recently installed?

    Where do I need to begin to look? Is there an easy answer that I’m missing?
    HELP!

    Start by disabling all your plugins AND installing the stock WordPress Twenty-Twelve theme. If this resolves the load time then reactivate your plugins one by one, and then your original theme, testing the site load after each reactivation. This will either reveal whether an individual theme or plugin is responsible (in which case you can post on the respective support threads or try an alternative), or rule out these as culprits.

    Good luck.

    We had the same problem after updating Woocommerce, our web developer identified the problem as a host mod_security setting, in case it helps, here is detail he sent us;

    (https://docs.woothemes.com/document/jquery-cookie-fails-to-load/)

    In simple terms, that means that the host is looking for a file called jquery.cookie.min.js and the new version(s) of Woocommerce are bundled with a file called jquery_cookie.min.js

    This means that all the javascript will break when you first update woocommerce (until you rename the file.)

    For your ref, the file is located in wp-content/plugins/woocommerce/assets/js/jquery-cookie/jquery_cookie.min.js

    Thank you. I’m going to look at both. I don’t use Woocommerce, but the error you are describing, 4boards, sounds like what I’m experiencing. My host says a file is triggering mod security. So maybe that file is in another plug in also?
