    Hi
I have the plugin blocking pdf and doc files, which are all in a private members’ area. The plugin is working well however there is a privacy policy (in pdf) on the website’s public home page. At the moment, clicking on the link serves up a 404 page as the plugin is doing its job and blocking access however this one pdf should be accessible to everyone.
My question is does the plugin allow file exceptions to the global pdf restriction?
    Thanks

    Hi @davo99

Could you please let us know which plugin you are using for blocking the pdf file’s access?
If you could explain a bit more about your current file architecture that would help me to suggest the right solution for you.

You can also raise a ticket from the plugin support form so that we can get on a screen share meeting to discuss this in more detail.

    Looking forward to your response.

    Thanks

    Hi
I’m using the free Prevent Files / Folders Access plugin to prevent pdfs being accessed unless the person is logged into the website. As almost all the pdfs are in the members’ area, it wouldn’t be a problem. However, there were two pdfs on the main public page and I wondered if the plugin has an option to allow for these pdfs to be accessed without being logged in.
While a file exception option is probably the easiest answer, to get around it I’ve replace the pdfs with popups however I’d be grateful if you can advise on the possibility of the file exception option in the free version of the plugin.
    Thanks

    Hi @davo99,

    Thanks for the update.

As I understand, right now in the free version the rules are applying for the all PDFs in your WP directory, and you want to protect only specific folder’s PDF files.

In our paid version we provide an option to choose whether you want to restrict completely or you want to restrict a specific folder’s certain file based on the file extension.

Are these two PDF files outside the specific folder like member’s folder? If yes, It could be possible to make a file exception for these two files.

    Thanks

    MiniOrange Hi

    Thanks for your reply.

    Kind of.
In the plugin, I selected to protect pdfs so all the pdfs across the website are protected. As it happens, all the pdf files are in various folders that sit under the wp-content folder. It wouldn’t be an issue to move the two pdfs to a separate folder outside the wp-content folder and unprotect that separate folder. It would be great if this were possible with the free version of your plugin however I fully understand if you said that this option falls under your Premium version. Unfortunately, even though I recognise all the time, effort, and skills that go into creating and supporting a plugin, the website is for a non-profit organisation and your Premium version is out of reach.

    Thanks for your support
