File deleted after updating the plugin

  • Hello to all,
    I’m using NextGen Gallery as a plugin for viewing my photos.

    I created a custom template for displaying the album, but after the last update of October 4 this file was deleted.

    Why?
    At the end of file is a custom and not a native file NextGen Gallery.

    How can I resolve to avoid this problem in the future?

    Whereas Theme updates use an “overwrite” process of copying over files if they exist and leaving “extra” files alone, plugin updates are a “destructive” process where all of the files in the plugin folder can be expected to be deleted and then replaced with the new/updated files.

    Unfortunately this will remove any extra files you have added to the plugin folder(s). We are reviewing options to try to sort this out.
