I was forced to add this as a new thread, as I originally added it as a comment on an existing thread, but it was deleted and then locked…
The behaviour of keeping this file, which purportedly is retained due to its reuse by other plugins from this publisher, is not inline with best practices, and, in my personal opinion, looks dodgy as hell.
Having your plugin create a new file outside of that plugin’s folder is poor form, and is a common thumbprint of malicious software. Regardless of the purpose of this file. There is no good reason for it to be done this way.
