using plug in for a few months. did as advised and have been turning on features slowly.

    now on 265/480

trouble i′m finding is that the more i turn on, the less i understand what is going on. sorry about the wordfence comparisons but it is all i have used previously.

file change notifications. is there any way of just having suspicious files notified, i.e. ones in locations that should not be changed. receiving everything and no indication of whether it is suspicious or not seems almost counter productive.

how many lockouts indicate a problem? i know that is a piece of string question, but on a site getting 50k hits a month, should i be locking out 200 a day on failed (repeated failed attempts) log ins? can i safely lock them out permanently or will that even have any effect if machines constantly change them ?

on the 404 page, where can i get any useful info as to which of these may indicate attacks and which relate to some level of functionality not working?. i have 1300 in no time at all, yet broken link checker cannot find a single one so they are not relating to specific content.

so i am getting all this info but with no clue how to apply it. if this plug in is designed for people who dont need to ask those questions, say so, no problem, i′ll mov e on

general feedback – the amount of pages and then tabs on pages results in everything taking a long time to find. a descriptive link to every tab from the dashboard would be very helpful in speed and in keeping an overview of what is included.

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

Hi, this plugin is full of options for you to enable. And yes it can take some time if you are not familiar with what each feature does. Some features might cause issues with your sites current configuration. Your approach to slowly enable each option is the best method with this plugin. Taking on this approach will let you know if enabling one feature in the plugin causes an issue in your site. i.e. a conflicting issue with another plugin, theme or your current server settings.

In relation to your scanner question. You can exclude pages and or directories from being monitored by the scanner. This will help you further and allow you to only receive notifications of actual changes from important files and directories.

Receiving all the lockout attempts lets you know that many people are trying to access your site via your admin login page. Most people that have a website are never aware of this until they install a plugin that monitors these intrusions.

You can lock them out permanently. You can even use the following online service Country Blocking.

The developers designed the layout of the plugin with the intention of making it simple for most people to understand. All the options available for you to enable have an explanation of what each feature does to protect your site. However in saying this, we are aware that not everyone will find the layout to their liking.

As a rule of thumb security needs to be thorough and strict. At the same time flexible enough for websites to function.

You just need to persevere with this plugin a bit and take your time understanding what each feature does. Also it is a good idea to carry out tests on a testing platform or locally on your computer using Xampp or Mamp. Once you are happy with your decision and finalized all the options you want to enable in the plugin, you will then have a very secured site.

You can ask us any time you have a question or problem. We are here to assist you in any way possible.

    Kind regards
