• Hi,

I installed the latest version of the plugin 7.0.3.

Under the, File Change Detection section I started a scan and after a while I received a ‘Fatal Error’

This file change option is one of the reasons we chose this plugin so hoping this can resolved.

Here is what the logs say when I view details of the error
    Module File Change
    Type Fatal Error
    Description Scan Failed
    Timestamp 2018-06-22 23:24:59
    User
    URL WP-Cron Scheduled Task

  • I have the same fatal error on file change and nothing has been emailed since the 7.0.3 update.

I also have exactly the same problem, I see it on several different sites. Some on webhosting packages, some on self-managed Debian servers. And it’s definitely intermittent – several scans will succseed, and then one aborts.

Could it be to do with a time limit in PHP? Possibly, but I reckon probably not, since especially at my own servers this limit is generally quite high.

Really hope to see an answer for this one – thanks!

BTW what I’m also seeing – I think in connection with this problem, but not certain – that iTS seems to forget about the previous list of files, and tells me thousands have been deleted or added… Just happens sometimes.

I have been getting one or several of these fatal errors per week. It started on 06-30-2018; perhaps no accident that this thread and all replies are from a month ago. I have two websites which have the same theme and almost identical plugins, but the problem is only affecting one of them. I am running the latest iThemes Security (7.0.4).

Deactivating the iTSec plugin while a File Change Detection scan is in progress (using WP Cron) is one situation that will lead to this exact log entry. There may be other situations as well …

As an absolute rookie concerning the details of how iThemes actually works, what does the File Change – Fatal Error – Scan Failed mean? How dangerous is it? I am getting lots of them. Since it is in bright red and uses the word ‘fatal’, I assume I need to do something but can’t find an answer.

    Thanks, David

    Same probleme here

    +1

I also have the same problem every week. No answer here from the developer?

    Andreas

    Me too.

I’m still getting this problem. Agree, it would be really good to hear from the developers on this one.

I’d be willing to provide more info or do a limited amount of testing, IF the developers would say what might help them find the problem…

I am not only still getting this for a month now, but now it has spread to a second website that I own.

it’s really amazing that none of the developers of this popular plugin has thought it necessary for more than 2 months to answer this question here

I have a client that is getting the “file change” either fatal error or warning repeatedly. We can not figure out what is causing it, especially for the fact the website was just redesigned and have the new WordPress loaded on it.

All the filed end in .php. ???

Can someone please tell me what this is? It looks like all teh questions regarding this topic are unresolved and not answered too.

    Hiya @deblyn69

This is a 3+ months old topic at this time, please create your own topic if you wish to ask a question, as this just leads to unnecesary noise. As such I will be closing this topic to avoid further revivals of an old thread.

As a side note, please don’t report topics needlessly, it brings it to the attention of all our mods.
