File attachments no longer included with email

    My contact form has been functioning properly for a couple of years without issue, and then starting on either January 2nd or January 3rd, the attachment stopped being included with the email. I have confirmed that I have everything setup properly (again, it has worked flawlessly for about 2 years without issue).

    I have so far removed all plugins and changed to the default 2021 wordpress theme with no luck of getting it to work. I have also updated all plugins with no luck. So no apparent plugin or theme conflict. Also, in the process of removing plugins, I also removed the plugin WP Mail SMTP (which connected our website to Gmail to use Gmail as our mail server). I tested it and even with the default PHP Mail (via our hosting provider) the attachment is still not included (I confirmed by viewing the email headers that it was sent via our hosting provider’s email server without an attachment). So it doesn’t appear to be an email server issue since it is happened regardless of the email server I use.

    I’m not sure what to try next. Is there a way I can enable logging errors from Contact Form 7 so I can get more insight as to what might be going on? Any suggestions are greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance for anyone’s help!

    What email settings do you have in the Mail tab panel?

    To protect personal data, hiding email addresses in the settings or replacing them with dummy addresses is strongly advised. You can also include screenshots.

    Hi Takayuki Miyoshi. Thank you very much for the quick reply! I am sick today (and still trying to fix this) otherwise I would have replied last night. Here is a screenshot of my Mail settings for the Contact Form I’m having an issue with: https://snipboard.io/1y5NCU.jpg

    Please also note that I have made very basic/stripped-down versions of this form and I still have the same issue where everything is sent except for the file attachment does not get attached.

    Mail (2) which purposely is setup by me to NOT include the attachment (but instead act as an autoresponder) does send successfully. Its just that the primary Mail does not include the attachment (which it used to for at least a year or two and I haven’t made any changes to this form).

    What other plugins and theme do you use on the site?

    I have a long list of plugins and my theme is a child theme of Store Front. I have disabled nearly all of the plugins (except for the ones that you’ve recommended such as WordFence, WooCommerce, etc.). Are there any instructions on how I can enable logging of errors and where I can review these logs at? I might be able to provide better information this way.

    I wanted to provide you with another update. I just tested it again and I still cannot get the file attachment to attach after switching to the Twenty Twenty-One theme and deactivating ALL plugins except for Contact Form 7. I tested this with and without Gmail being used as the email server like this. It behaves the same way in that the form email is sent with everything included except for the file attachment.

    Hi Takayuki Miyoshi,

    I’m really stuck here. I hope that you can provide some guidance as to how I can troubleshoot this since there aren’t any logs that I can enable to debug this. I have combed the internet and forums to see if anyone has had a similar issue but I have not been able to find anything.

    Any ideas of what I can try are helpful. If I don’t hear back from you by the end of the week then I will need to find another contact form plugin solution for our company.

    I have resolved this issue myself. I would like to request that a Moderator to redact the webpage I reference in my first post. We are receiving an increased amount of spam on that contact form since I’ve posted to this forum and I’m hoping that you can help me by removing our URL. Thank you.

    @mreed3689 The URL in the “The page I need help with:” field is only visible to logged in www.remarpro.com users.

    So, if you’re getting an increase in bot spam, it’s coming from elsewhere.
