    Hello,

We cannot access the files similar to other issues here and here. We don’t have anything crazy in our setup:

    WordPress directory location /var/www/wordpress
    WordPress directory size 2.08 GB
    Uploads directory location /var/www/wordpress/wp-content/uploads
    Uploads directory size 1,009.47 MB

But whatever 4.5.92 was supposed to fix, its still an issue with our set up. I’ll provide any information you may need from me.

    Thank you.

  • Hey @gunderjt ,

Where are the download files located? Inside the uploads folder?

    Warmly,

    Hey Razvan,

    Yes, in the /var/www/wordpress/wp-content/uploads/dlm_uploads folder

    eg. https://converge.colorado.edu/wp-content/uploads/dlm_uploads/2022/02/DHMM-314_Disaster-Health-Research.pdf

The permissions for this file is the same for all the other files in the uploads folder, so it seems like there shouldn’t be an issue.

Thank you for your attention to this matter,
    Jeffrey

Thank you Jeffrey for the info.

Could you also please tell us what kind of server your website is on so we can try and replicate your issue? Also, could you please specify your host provider so we can look into their documentation?

Currently we can’t replicate your problem as it seems you might have a standard installation but hosts can come up with different ways to improve security which can cause this.

    Warmly,
    Razvan

    Hello Razvan,

We aren’t using a host provider, Its a server housed and maintained in-house. Its a CENTOS OS.

We rolled back the plug-in to version 4.5.8. And got it working again.

I’m unsure what happened between that version and the current one that breaks our site, but I figured I’d let you know what solution we used.

    Thank you,
    Jeffrey

    Hello Jeffrey,

Thank you for the info. Inf you go and create a new Download and add a file as you usually do could you please tell me the file path present in the File URL(s) metabox after you hit the Publish/Save button?

    Warmly,
    Razvan

    Hi Razvan,

I uploaded a test and here is the url https://converge.colorado.edu/wp-content/uploads/dlm_uploads/2022/04/dummy.pdf.

Please keep in mind that any testing I’m doing is with version 4.5.8. I have compliance to worry about. Hope we can figure out why this version works and the newer ones make the files forbidden and inaccessible.

    Thank you,
    Jeffrey

    Hey Jeffrey,

Thanks for the info but I was hoping that you have a staging environment and that the URL you’ll send will be the one with Download Monitor 4.5.92 in it. Is it possible to do that?

    Warmly,
    Razvan.
