  • You could reinstall the blog at the new location and import the content. At a minimum you’ll have to move the files into the new directory. Then you could do a DB search to find the old domain and change it to the new domain (without the beta).

That’s kind of what I was thinking as well, but with an extra step. I might go ahead and upgrade the 2.6.2 blog to 2.9.2. Move the new files. Download the old database, and upload it into the new blog. Does that sound like a decent approach. I’ve never done a move quite like this one before.

    Thanks for the link vtxyzzy.

I know how to move a site within a URL. I think where I messed up here is that I’m dealing with 2 different versions of WP. I need to move the new version to where the old blog is and then import the old blog database files into the new version. Will that work? Does it make sense?

    Thanks,

I think you’ll need to upgrade the old blog before you can import its posts into the new blog.

Thanks, esmi. I had come to the same conclusion myself. I’ll let you know how it goes.

The upgrade worked like a charm. Thanks to all for the suggestions.
