    Hi David,

My normal practice is to have the IPTC Core ‘Title’ field for a file be used for the media library title upon upload.

In the MLA settings under IPTC/EXIF/WP the mapping rule is set for ‘Name: Title’ to use the ‘IPTC Value: 2#005 object-name’ which I believe is correct.

For some reason on a latest upload of a media item, the media library title is using the file name instead of the title field. The only difference from before is I am uploading as a PNG file but I wouldn’t think this is the reason.

    Thanks,

Good to hear from you again, and thanks for your report.

The PNG file standard does not include support for IPTC metadata. PNG files can contain EXIF metadata and XMP metadata; MLA provides access to these metadata elements.

You can see what metadata MLA is able to access from the Media/Edit Media screen for the item. Scroll down to the “Attachment File Metadata” text area towards the bottom of the screen. Perhaps you can find an alternate source of the Title you want. If you can’t find what you need, post a link to the file and I will investigate further.

I am marking this topic resolved, but please update it if you have problems or further questions regarding the above suggestions. Thanks for your continued interest in the plugin.

Thanks for your quick reply and assistance with this.

It seems from some reading up XMP is more modern but nonetheless I will stick with my workflow and use JPEG files with IPTC metadata. The main reason I want metadata is so search engines pick up on it within the file itself.

Also with IPTC “Core” (which my version of Adobe Bridge has) as far as I can tell allows me to easily transfer/convert all my files’ IPTC metadata to XMP at some point in the future.
