Hey, great plguin, it really has sped up my site considerably, however a couple of plugins have stopped displaying the meta slider just doesnt show at all and the Flare plugin which displays a pop up down the side doesnt show and although the flare buttons at the bottom of the page are there, they do not work.

I just thought id may be worth asking if theres a simple fix before looking for alternatives to these plugins that will work with the optimised settings ??

    Thanks in advance

Morning uukmalesam; Difficult to say without looking at your site, but this might very well be due to depedany on jquery. You could try ‘search only in head’ together with ‘force in head’ or alternatively by excluding jquery (and possibly some jquery plugins) from the JS optimization. Might need some trial and error, but it should be possible to fix without having to install other plugins.

Hey thanks for your response, I actually managed to find a solution, in an app called plugin organiser, it lets you select which plugins are required for each page/post type/sidebar or can be turned on globally.

you can also select which order they are loaded. seems to have worked a treat. ??

That’s great info uukmalesam, I didn’t know about Plugin Organizer, might be a great addition to the Autoptimize FAQ entry about advanced configuration. Thanks for the feedback!

also now on google page ranks ghe only css and js render blocking my site is the files autoptimize created? againt doesnt bother me too much as still getting 90/100 but obviosly 100/100 be better ??

    Ah, interesting question! ??

Regarding JS render blocking; by default JS is at the end of HTML and is deferred, but if you configured is to be “forced in head”, it indeed is blocking. It is, however, not always possible to defer the aggregated JS.

CSS is en entirely different issue; up until recently CSS was considered to belong in one file in the head of the HTML. Google now suggests it is better to split the CSS in an essential part, which should go inline in the head of the base HTML and to have the rest loaded from a seperate file after your page has rendered. The Autoptimize FAQ has some info on how that can be accomplished with deferred CSS.

Yes i think i needed it to be forced in the head to make things work, but perhaps now with the plugin organiser, it might behave a bit better if i take that off again.

Do you reccomend any other plugins that go well with autoptimize?

Thanks again for making such a geat plugin, your plugin has turned my site into a userble site, also out of interest do you offer premium services for setup if i did want to get the render blocking issue sorted?

Its not really an issue right now as my site is now loading between 1-3 seconds now and has 1 blocking JS and 3 blocking css scripts… compared to like 16 blocking JS and 27blocking css and page load time of between 10 and 20 seconds before.

My main favorite companion plugin is WP Super Cache (although there are other great alternatives) to cache the pages themselves (which also avoids activating AO on every request for a page).

I have total cache it was the complicated minify which led e to find your plugin. I have the the page cache object and database cache on but the browser cache i think conflicts with AO as it trys to gzip files and not sure if this conflicts.

Also i turned the force js in head bit off to see if it would work better with the organiser plugin but it didnt when i turned it back on the performance didnt seem as good as before i altered it, not sure if that has to do with busy servers and more peak times slowing things down a bit. I will try again later ??
