@jomilla: Ouch! ?? No seriously – I asked for an opinion, so I can deal with getting one.

I’m well aware that the design isn’t very unique, but that wasn’t my intent with it either so I’m pleased with the results anyway. You can clearly see that I was looking a lot at sites like https://www.freepeople.com and https://www.webdesignerwall.com when I came up with it.

I’ve been getting a pretty much 50/50 response on it; 50% feels like you and simply hates it, and the other 50% adores it and thinks it looks great. That’s opinions for you – everyone has one! ??

And even if I don’t agree with you I thank you for the input. It’s a good lesson in not taking things sooo personal! ??

@uulele: It might be that you’re experiencing problems with loading all of the graphics that makes it hard for you to read the text. (Although since the blog I’ve done this design for is in Swedish and the majority of my readers have broadband-connection I’m not to concerned about page loading times.)

@cneetz: You’re not the first one who says that and now that I’ve stopped sulking (hehe) I can see where you’re coming from actually. Altough I do want to keep that kind of faded feel to the design I will try some things out and see if I can’t find a golden middle. =)

Yeah the colors run together quite a bit (not a big fan of them), but otherwise it’s a cool concept and definitely can tell you took inspiration from the WALL ??

To get some other color ides have you ever used:

    https://kuler.adobe.com

At least would help get you started in the right direction I think or at the very least it’s a fun website to view!

    I mostly use ColorLovers.
I’ve read about Kuler like a hundred times but never gotten around to try it out. will do! =)

Hey, Vintage! Or is it Anna?

I think some of this may be a clash of cultures. We lived in Europe for a number of years and the decorative arts there (particularly Germany, Switzerland & Scandinavia) are very much different than what I typically see in suburban USA. I trust you’re happy with the look and suspect that you’ll get many compliments on your page.

After all, your forum “handle” here, vintagemaniac, also speaks to the “vibe” you’re working to convey.

I particularly like the look of your RSS and E-mail links, and the fibers in the paper background. Go with your own best instincts — you know your audience better than we do. And the mechanics seem to be working fine.

I have a hard time reading your blog – not that I can read Swedish, but it is very hard to even keep my eyes on the content as I find the vertical lines very visual strong and distracting. The background is much more interesting to look at than the blog content itself.

    But maybe that’s just me.

this is what the “end product” turned out like: https://vintagemaniac.net/

And about the design being distracting from the content, I think you have a valid point there and I wouldn’t use this design for a professional project. But that’s sort of the nice thing with having a small, personal blog which you can design…you can go a bit heywire when you feel like it! haha

I Visit Your Blog. Your Blog’s Look is Nice but It takes so much Loading time Because Lots of Images in your blog and Please Change Your Lining Background.

    Thanks & Regards
