• Hi,

I’ve received a report that products which were edited yesterday haven’t been updated on Google Merchant Center. On inspection I noticed that the feed values were not updated despite the fact that the products had been edited in the back-end. I ordered a manual feed refresh, but it did not change anything. Upon checking in the File Manager of the server I could verify that the last edit of the file was recorded yesterday morning. Despite how many times I clicked to refresh, it did not change at all. To overpass that, I renamed the original file from the file manager, and ordered the refresh of the feed, expecting it to create the .xml file anew with the same name. Not only did it not do that, but it did not create any .xml files at all either. It’s been about an hour or so since I ordered the generation of the file, and it’s not over yet. The total catalog is approximately 250 products with a total of approximately 550 items including all the variations.

Would you kindly suggest what else I could do to regenerate the .xml file? I’ve thought of touching an empty file with that filename in the server file manager. Would that work, or should I do anything else? Also note that the insert batch size is set to 250 products in the settings, which is pretty lower than the default of 750.

    Thanks.

  • Hi,

Thanks for using our plugin and reaching out to us. Sorry to hear you are experiencing issues with your feed not updating.

    • First of all we would advise against manually changing, creating or modifying your feed files directly on your server as that could break all sorts of things and cause permissions of the file to change so our plugin can no longer use it.
    • Did you already check the WooCommerce fatal error logs of today to see if there is anything in there? Can you share the content of today’s WooCommerce fatal error log with us? This is where you can find those logs: https://woocommerce.com/document/finding-php-error-logs/
    • Can you also share the plugin debug.log URL with us so we can tell how you configured your feed and if indeed it is not properly updating? Instructions on how to retrieve the debug.log URL can be found here: https://adtribes.io/send-your-debug-log-to-support/https://adtribes.io/send-your-debug-log-to-support/

    Hi,

Apologies for not getting back to you sooner. I have forwarded you an email with a link back to this support ticket, including the data you had requested.

Unfortunately you didn’t warn me fast enough, and I had already tried manually editing the file from the file manager, which resulted in a broken file, like you had predicted. Returning back to a working product feed after that was not the case, so I had to create a duplicate feed, which generated a new file – and URL – which I subsequently submitted to Google Merchants, and that updated my catalog with duplicate products. The AdTribes debug.log I have forwarded you contains data for that too.

Kindly note that I am still getting reports from my users for the newly created product feed also, that they are still experiencing similar sync problems between WC and GM. The former product feed I have removed from GM, and deactivated in the Manage Feeds page. Please review, and advise further.

    Best,
    Konstantinos.
