Feed Weirdness

    Client site concerning religious topics has only one post, been there for years. It shows up as the only entry on all the various possible feed links I can try directly.

    All new updates are via Pages where docs are provided as downloads. These are checked periodically to make sure they are correct and the linkage works.

    A colleague of the client on Blogger states they are seeing spammy stuff in the feed of my client’s site as seen through their control panel.

    Admin panel checked daily and anything updated if needed, using stock WP theme, all plugins via WP. I run Wordfence, Bad Behavior, Simple Security Firewall with login page rename, block any dicey IP ranges in Wordfence daily at least. I periodically change the username to a nonsense word unlike previous one, there is only one login, the login info has never been emailed or shared.

    Any suggestions as to whether this issue could be my fault?

    Hi James, I don’t know what URL the Blogger person is accessing, they are likely not savvy. Is there a way to PM or email the URL of the client site?

    If you can’t share the URL that’s fine but we probably won’t be able to help you. Also note that if you do post it, it will not be removed later on.

    That sounds like the site that the feed is coming from is compromised.

    The trick is finding out where/how Blogger gets their feed. Is it an artifact from Reader bodged on? All I can tell from my end is that the direct link to the feed shows one old post, as it should.

    I am thinking this could also be a problem with that person’s individual computer. I can’t repeat it without opening a Blogger account.

    They usually get it from the <head> area in the site’s source. Can you post the link to the site?

    Thank you, I checked files referring to <head>, using stock 2012 theme, also ran theme check plugin, it all looks koshah, I see nothing untoward. Plus several WP themes just updated with 4.4, so calling BS on the original complaint thanks to your help.
