Hi — I am having an issue with my feeds not updating, despite trying all the troubleshooting steps offered in the documentation related to cron jobs here. According to WP Crontrol, my feed update jobs are all stuck on “Now”. And when I am in the “Feed Sources” tab the “Next Update” field appears to count up, rather than down.

If I manually force update through the Troubleshooting tab the updates succeed, then stall again at the next interval. I have also attempted to delete and re-import all feeds, to no avail, as well as remove and re-install the plugin (exporting and re-importing my feed sources in doing so). The error log in the Troubleshooting tab is not showing any errors thrown.

I believe the genesis of this error coincides with the removal of the simple feeds bundle, for which I got a refund within the trial period, after which I deleted the add-ons. Around the same time, I also deleted a large number of feeds (~200) that I no longer needed.

  • Hi James,

The removal of the add-ons should not cause or have any relation with your issue here.

From what we understand from your explanation, the problem you appear to be encountering is what appears to be stuck cron, as shown here.

For such an issue, we have two pages in our documentation that suggest ways of handling this problem. We have some tips on this page that generally solve the problem (and most probably you have looked at it), and another workaround is available on this page.

If none of the above works for you, we recommend speaking with your hosting provider since WordPress cron is not something that WP RSS Aggregator is responsible for.

I have the exact same problem. I have tried everything in the documentation related to stuck Cron jobs yet no luck. @dukeofchen, what eventually solved it for you if I may ask? Thanks!

I unfortunately never resolved this problem, and gave up after trying all the troubleshooting steps provided and attempting to fix it with my host provider (Dreamhost), who said WP plugins were out of their domain.

Sorry I can’t be of more help!

You may want to try deleting the whole wp_cron option in your database tables. WordPress will rebuild it, and it’s possible that something that uses cron has an improper clean up on it, causing it to loop and not end. A few years back, there was a popular image plugin that did that.

    Hi all,

Thanks Mika (@ipstenu) for jumping in. @dukeofchen and @yoavxyoav, you might want to try Mika’s solution and see if it resolves your problem.

As an additional info, WP-Cron is something that WP RSS Aggregator can’t have control of. So it would be best to contact the hosting provider regarding any cron issues. Please also show them the exact errors you’re seeing (i.e. your Cron Events page) so your host can try to understand the problem from their end.
