    Hello.

Our podcast has been de-listed by iTunes because the feed stopped validating for them. The XML is coming up as questionable, and the description tag is now empty, even though the summary/description field has content. Other services don’t seem to be having a problem, just iTunes. Any idea what could be causing this?

It seems as if there is a blank line at the top of your RSS feed which is making the feed invalidated. If you check this out: https://castfeedvalidator.com/?url=https://blogs.getty.edu/podcast/feed/
you’ll see what the issue is.

To resolve this I would perform a plugin conflict test (turn off all plugins on your site and switch to a stock theme like TwentyNineteen) to see if the issue persists. Most all of the time this is due to some kind of plugin or theme conflict that injects the blank line in your feed XML.

What about the blank description field?

That could have an impact on things as well, but you’d need to get that blank line at the top of the feed XML resolved first. With the blank line there the feed is invalidated.
