Recently moved my blog to a different hosting provider. Everything is running fine, but I just noticed the Fedi Reactions block is simply not showing to the readers, although I’ve positively set it up on the edition page.

Checked with my new hosting if they have any kind of cache active and they told me they don’t. The only clue they gave me was this error message. But I’m not very tech-savvy and I’m not sure if I can do anything (deactivating the mts-wp-notifications plugin did nothing).

    Any clue?

The error message my hosting provided:

[Mon Jan 27 20:26:39.029129 2025] [proxy_fcgi:error] [pid 3084529:tid 3084573] [client 10.255.122.42:0] AH01071: Got error ‘PHP message: PHP Warning:  Constant ABSPATH already defined in /home/teknopata/www/wp-config.php on line 44; PHP message: PHP Warning:  file_exists(): open_basedir restriction in effect. Hey @joxe ??

This might be, because you do not have reactions on that page! I found a post with reactions and this shows the reactions: https://teknopata.eus/2025/01/tkm-eus-behingoagatik-sare-sozialek-poz-handi-bat/

    Thanks, @pfefferle

Yeah, that ‘old’ post you found got those reactions registered while the blog was on my previous hosting (DreamHost).

The new post definitely has reactions, you can see them in the associated mastodon post: https://tkm.eus/@[email protected]/113895958807579361

Something is failing in ther process of registering the reactions on the blog. It worked OK until I did the hosting migration, but the tech guys on my new hosting don’t seem to have any clue ??

    Thanks anyway!

Can you see the reactions in the comment queue? Have you received my recent like?

I think this is not a problem of the reactions block, but the server might have problems receiving reactions!?!

How was the migration done? It might be that your public key changed, and that reactions will be signed with an old key? You could try to change something in your profile and wait until it is updated on the remote server and then try it again.

I’m not receiving reactions on the comments queue at all ??.

That idea about the public key having changed makes sense. I’ll update the blog profile and see if that makes a difference. Thank you!

Definitely, something is ‘very broken’ in the new environment. I changed some text and img on the blog’s fedi profile, but it seems it’s not pushing them properly. If I try to see the profile from a regular Mastodon instance, old text and img’s still there ??

@joxe we have improved the profile update mechanism a lot. It will be released with the next version latest next week. If you can wait some more days, you could re-try it after the update!

Fantastic! Of course I can wait ?? Thanks for your time and effort, @pfefferle , this plugin is GOLD! ??

Sorry! I just discovered the apache error log on my new hosting and it’s absolutely full of messages like this, if it’s of any help. (If it’s not, I’ll patiently wait until the next update) ??

these are blocks on server level, we can’t do anything about that, because this happens before WordPress is even loaded. you would have to report that to your hoster. it seems that the (massive) traffic of the fediverse is seen as brute force attack by a specific mod_sec rule.

    Thread Starter joxe

    (@joxe)

Great! I will talk to my hosting provider and ask them if it’s possible to modify that rule.

Once aagain, thanks for your time and effort! ????

    Hi again!

Just a quick followup to let. you know that with a lot of help from my new hosting provider’s tech staff, and a lot of inspiration from your previous replies, the blog federation is alive and kicking again, working at 100% ??

By the way, now I have a small request regarding translation… but I better open a new thread for that.

Many, many many thanks ?? I LOVE this plugin and the potential it has to transform the way we communicate ??
