features requiring 4.4

    what feature in this theme requires 4.4?? I can see that the theme checks for 4.4 and does not load if the level is less than that.

    when it first appeared on the repository, I d/led it and ran it but it now requires 4.4 to run.

    The theme has a check for that version of WordPress in the code as it uses new functionality like the comments additions.
