Features / Plugins that should be CORE woocommerce

  • Hey guys, after 5 years working with WooCommerce and Shopify, I’m sad to see the Woo dev team chase after vanity projects like “reports” and more bloat. Whereas Shopify dev team chase after adding CORE features to the default Shopify experience (ie, multi-warehouse is a core feature out of the box!).

    As a result, Woo sites need about 40-60 plugins to catch up to shopify. All need to be meticulously selected and tested.

    So I’m wondering if the community can help us help ourselves here. There are many SIMPLE core features that can be added to WooCommerce core and that’s just to catch up to 70% of Shopify.

    The best part of all of this is you all know about your MUST have plugins. Don’t you think Woo devs should turn those plugins into core features?

    I’ll start with one Should-Be-Core feature:

  • @olcoil yah I agree with you, even many WooCommerce paid extensions lacking features from their third party counter parts. Well I guess this is how WooCommerce works. Neither you nor I can change their strategy. But I think woo team should definitely get rid of bloat from core plugin and in it’s place add something useful.
