You have an amazing start to an incredible plugin that could be very valuable, but in order to make it viable for a serious business it needs some very important features.

Here are a few things that make this plugin both insecure for users and non optimal for performance, usability and practicality.

Categories – this is so important. Unless you only allow users to auction a few items, there will be no sorting to make it easy to find what you are looking for once you get a few dozen listings. If it is hard to search people will not use it, ease of use is the most important feature for any consumer interface.

Limit amount of items per page in feed or make it adjustable.

Front end user interface – currently you have users posting auctions in the admin area. This poses security issues as they now have access to other users uploaded item images or documents via the upload media pop-up library tab.

You use “echo” instead of “return” in your php, causing the page feed to force all other content to the bottom of the page. You added a text area above the feed to allow simple text above the auction but this is the ideal area for custom content.

when users who are not logged in to the site attempt to bid on or purchase an item, you direct them to wp-login.php and dont offer a way to direct them to a custom login/registration page instead. this poses security risks as the wp-login.php file is now readable by hackers.

An amazing feature would be the ability to set events on the calendar so the site owner can offer “weekend” listing fee rates and final sale value fees. The ability to offer coupon codes for a number of reduced fees to existing or new customers would encourage more listing and generate more new users. This would make your plugin very valueable as a lead generating tool for business’s who run it on a website. I own a cell phone and computer repair business and i use your plugin to do exactly that https://www.northendelectronics.com/elecronics-auctions/

Your plugin also does not display currency values (no dollar signs $). this makes the buying screen unfamiliar to some users.

Single auction page pop-up – Having the single auction page pen in a pop-up instead of in a new page will keep people looking at auctions while they shop and reduce the need to hit “back” to return to them. They entire checkout process could be handled in this pop-up to really streamline the process and provide a user friendly environment.

Bid and Buy Now buttons on the feed page would be great.

I don’t want you to think i am only talking bad, because i am not. Your plugin is exactly what everyone who auctions on wordpress really needs, but these things really need to be implemented. I bought the pro version and i have no regrets because i know you are hard at work bringing these features. I hope this post helps, and that other wordpress devs try it as well.

If you have tried this plug-in and either agree or disagree, or can think of something else i missed then please comment on this post so Nitesh knows what his customers need.

    Hi Phil,

Thanks for providing valuable input, it really serves well for me.
    Here is my response:

    1. Categories – Point noted & this feature is now planned. The plan is that admin (via WP dashboard -> PRO) can add new categories or choose from a list of pre-loaded categories
and shortlist his own categories for his website. Then while adding auction (for both admin/user) they can specify a category for that auction.

On the front end, I’m updating the Feed page to include a new drop down (with All, Category 1, Category 2) where if particular category is selected then only relevant auctions for it
    will appear in the table.

    2. Limit amount of items per page in feed – The limitation is 20 & if it exceeds more than that then pagination happens automatically.

    3. Front end user interface – I remember that you raised this point in one of your tickets. This is also planned now. I’ll provide a new shortcode (to be added in a new page) which admin can add in the same way as
feed page. Then this page will have a front end “Add Auction”, Manage Auction and payment settings for the user. The main thing here is that front end GUI should be developed such that it should work seamlessly accross all themes.

    4. Page Feed Content – I’ll try to fix this.

    5. Custom Login redirect – I’ve already emailed you in one of my ticket. Awaiting your response.

    6. Coupon code & Calendar feature – Noted down. Let me analyze to see if I can plan this in future.

    7. Currency Value display – I’ll definitely plan this when I ship pending features.

    8. Single auction page pop-up – I didn’t follow this. Could you elaborate a bit more?

    9. Bid & Buy Button for feed – I built it keeping flippa.com in mind. I can add Bid button as including both will not appear good & eat up lots of space.

    Hope to get more suggestions.

    Thanks,
    Nitesh
