I updated the plugin this morning and now my featured images for articles that include a featured video (from Youtube), have the image replaced by the video. This is not how it worked before. My blog articles use featured images which are used on the front page in a slider. I don’t want the videos to appear in the slider. They are also over riding the featured image when the articles are viewed on their category pages. Again it never did this before. But now it does after the update. I don’t want my readers watching embedded videos using the slider or on category pages. I want them viewing the video within the article page. I’ve tried different options in the media settings but nothing is working. I’m a bit stuck now on how to get it back to the way it was.

Just to update I’ve managed to fix the slider so its showing the featured image again (not sure how but its back to normal). And the videos are back as featured before on the article pages. But they are still showing on the category page which they shouldn’t. Any ideas?

I am getting very very odd behaviour with this across different browsers.

Chrome for Mac: Frontpage slider displays youtube video. Video category page correctly shows featured images for each article. Featured video works on each page.

Firefox for Mac: Frontpage slider works fine displaying featured image. Videos category page displays correctly. Featured videos will not display on the pages, featured image is displayed instead.

Safari for Mac: Frontpage slider displays youtube video. Video category page correctly shows featured images for each article. Featured video works on each page.

Safari for iPad: Frontpage slider displays youtube video. Video category page correctly shows featured images for each article. Featured video works on each page.

Firefox for Windows: Frontpage slider displays youtube video. Video category page correctly shows featured images for each article. Featured video works on each page.

Chrome for Windows: Frontpage slider displays youtube video. Video category page correctly shows featured images for each article. Featured video works on each page.

I’ve tried various combinations of media settings and I can’t get any to behave consistently across any browser. Its very strange. Here is the link to my site: https://www.taketotheroad.co.uk/

I am expecting this to result from using a cache plugin. From looking at your page’s sourcecode I can see you are using W3 Total Cache:

<!– Performance optimized by W3 Total Cache. Learn more: https://www.w3-edge.com/wordpress-plugins/

    Page Caching using disk: enhanced

    Served from: https://www.taketotheroad.co.uk @ 2015-06-03 18:22:00 by W3 Total Cache –>

    The setting you want are:
Replace featured image automatically. and Only when viewing single posts and pages. Untick everything else from the display conditions. Make sure you saved the settings correctly and then reset you W3 Total Cache-cache

I’m having this same problem which were not present in the previous versions prior to version 2. After updating this plugin in a two separate test sites, the feature image no longer shows but is replaced by the featured video no matter what settings I selected. I have no caching plugin enabled.

Selecting “Replace featured image on click” – No change
Selecting “Open video overlay when featured image is clicked.” – No change

Thanks Alexander. I figured it was a cache issue but put it down to the browser rather than the W3 Cache. I will remember for next time. Thanks for your help! All sorted now ??
