Featured slider posts also show in listings even though box not ticked

Can anyone help with what I might be doing wrong here please.
Under the Featured Slider settings the ‘Featured slider posts also show in listings’ box is NOT ticked, however the featured posts are still showing below the slider in the post listings.
How can I rectify this? Many thanks in advance.
