Featured product listing thumbnail sizes

I have the woocommerce featured products on my home page but they are not showing the full size of the image( I think because of the hard crop) but if I uncheck that then the images are stretched out. How do I change the thumbnail box to show a small picture of the image. I need something that is sometimes wider and sometimes taller.
I have been researching for days on this with no luck. I am getting quite frustrated and don’t know how to fix this. I tried the woocommerce>settings>images to resize and regenerated the thumbnails multiple times, but it does not work.
My site looks unprofessional with cropped or stretched out images.
