Featured post options

  • I Have a homepage with a large featured post slider and below I have other posts, all these posts on the hompage are a mix of 4 categories, in every category i have also featured post slider and other posts but only from that category.

    How can i make a new post for a specific category and get an option to set it to be a featured post with extra fileds options because the featured post slider has a large image, i dont want to upload for every post a large image only for the ones i want them to be featured.

    Its a custom theme, and im trying to make this work but im not sure how.

    I hope i wrote clear, bascally i need this :

    new post -> select category -> select to be a featured post -> get extra custom fields for the featured post -> publish
    (if not selected to be a featured post its a normal one without extra custom fields and goes under the main fetaured post slider)

    On the home page : all featured posts to be shown from all cateogries

    On the category page (for example food) to be shown featured posts for only that category.

    So the home page is the same as the categories pages just the homepage is all categories in one.
