I’m using customizr (free) on my website, which is very much work in progress at the moment. I like the look of the featured pages on the homepage, however, I want each one to link to categories of posts. I have two sections to my site – food and photography therefore my posts are categorised into these two groups. I want the ‘featured page’ links on the homepage to link to each category of posts instead of a featured page.
I hope that makes sense? Can you please help me to do this?
    Thank you,
    Dan

  • I never tried, but first I would start with giving the category-archives a name-structure like
    this-is-yoursite.com/theme/food
    this-is-yoursite.com/theme/photography

You can achieve that in the WP-Dashboard. I can’t point to the exact WP-Menuitems, because I am using the german version. But it should be under categories and under permalinks.

Then have a look at https://presscustomizr.com/snippet/changing-the-title-of-the-categories-archive-pages/ to get rid of the archive-specific title. And you may have to look at the theme-options for the layout of the archive-pages.

Then have a look at https://presscustomizr.com/snippet/setting-custom-links-featured-pages-customizr/ to insert your custom (category-archive) pages.

Maybe there are some side-effects, I don’t realize. But I would try it like this.

    Hi rengeiw

I tried this but now I’m in a bit of a pickle. I can no longer access my site or admin login as I get an error:

Parse error: syntax error, unexpected ‘custom’ (T_STRING) in /home/ashawthi/public_html/wp-content/themes/customizr/functions.php on line 60

    Please help.

    Hi

I’ve managed to restore back to my previous version so I can access it all again now

I’ll see if I can find what the issue was…
