I did try the suggested plugin “Regenerate Thumbnails” as a possible fix for blurry images, however, the plugin did not fix the blurry image problem and it broke image paths of all the thumbnail images and a few featured images.?

I had to take my entire website and place it in maintenance status, and now we can’t even launch our website. This is caused significant damage.

In short, the suggested plugin caused more problems for me. It might have worked well for other people, but for my website it did not.

    Hi there, @tarzine,

I’m sorry to hear about the trouble! Did you eventually fix that, or do you still need help at all? I checked your site and it seems to be online and with images.

That said, can you confirm the settings you have used for the Regenerate Thumbnails? In detail, you want to double-check the “Update the content of posts to use the new sizes” and “Delete thumbnail files for old unregistered size…” settings.

To avoid broken/missing images these settings should as in the screenshot below:

Let me know what you find out!

    Hey @stef.

The Regenerate Thumbnails plugin did corrupt the path of the images to the point where I had to delete them and re-upload them. This is not a fix…that is a problem with your plugin, and deleting the images and reloading the images is a work-a-round.

I am 100% afraid to use this plugin again because it caused so much unnecessary problems.

    Fix your plugin.

    Hi @tarzine,

I’m sorry to hear you’ve had a poor experience with Regenerate Thumbnails. Since we don’t know anything about how you used it, which settings you had, or anything else, we’re not able to duplicate the problem you described (“The Regenerate Thumbnails plugin did corrupt the path of the images to the point where I had to delete them and re-upload them.”)

If you both a) deleted old thumbnails and b) did not update posts to use the new sizes, as Stef’s screenshot indicates, then broken images/paths would be expected behavior.

    Best,

    Cena
