featured image with geodirectory

I’ve updated the plugin with a small fix.

I’ve tested with the shortcode you gave me above and see nothing when I mouse over the image. If you’re still seeing it then what browser and operating system are you using?

I’m currently testing in Chrome on MacOS.

hey macs – i was using from Plus on to fx, powermac … loved em.
Now i am using win7 chrome, but tested as well with firefox explorer and opera

So screenshot 1-entry-mouse-over-wired-text.PNG is not very good at all.

The second screenshot is what I would expect to happen.

Are you still seeing screenshot 1 happen? I can’t reproduce it with the shortcode you gave me above.

If you have a public link to a website that shows the problem that would be very helpful.

Its a serach in the geodirectory.

May be geodirectory handles title different than normal wordpress posts.

i made a contact to the geodirectory support as well, telling them the Problem.

Could you poste here which shortcode did u use in a normal WP posts Title, where you did not have that strange text, when mouse over.

I ask that because i told gd support that the cryptic text when mouse over does not happen in normal posts, as you wrote me here above.

But i tested a normal post now with the shortcode in the title.
And i dont get any screenshot – only the full text of the shortcode i used.

Could you generate a preview with the shortcode in the titel field of a normal wp poste? – its driving me crazy.

The shortcode I am testing currently is:

It still works fine for me. No errors and the title is as I would expect. The only thing I can think is there’s some bad html on the page that’s causing the error.

Do you have a public page with the problem that I can see? Perhaps you could create a secret page that you don’t link from anywhere? Then you can delete it once we’re done

The result with my browsers show the text of the shortcode now, instead of a title – as well there is a warning on top of the page

Though I d be happy if u have an idea, but am short before giving up. I am not a coder so my abilities are limited. And i dont want to waste your time.

But may be interesting the response of geodirectory.
The ask their developers why gd behaves different to wp posts.

And may be interesting for you – they dont know any other solution by now to generate screenshots for a preview. As gd is the main plug for wp directories with a huge amount of indtallations. May be its of interest for u both to cooperate with that subject.

I think its a very important feature which is missing at gd. When u ve 10000ends of addresses, all with the same boring category image, instead of a individual pic.
Its easy to generate the shortcode in a spreadsheet from the content.

oops forgot to tell you that i use the shortcode in that linked post as well in the text area. WHich works fine. Just to avoid making u confused becaus of the image below the title. this is an exra shortcode in the post text.

I tried to enter your shortcode into the field image_post for importing data into gd via csv.

Sure would be the better place for your shortcode than the title. Unfortunately it doesn’t work either. I also asked the gd support, but no answer yet.

The error message after the import:
Please transfer all new images to ‘wp-content/uploads/sites/2/2019/06’ folder.

So my question – can I save the image files generated by your shortcode locally? That would solve my problem, too.

This is an error with the geodirectory plugin. Should be a relatively easy fix for the developer.

Regarding your problem – are you always adding the shortcode into the title of the post? That won’t work unfortunately. Shortcodes don’t work in post titles. They would have to be added to the body of the post.

They also won’t work in the fields. The shortcodes have to be in the main post content since that’s the only place they work properly.

Regarding saving the images, that’s not something the plugin supports. Unfortunately there’s no way for the plugin to know if the image has been generated or not, so it’s likely that the ‘generating image’ image would be saved rather than the actual screenshot.
