Featured image with custom size

I use option “Enable first image found on content as Featured Image.” But in function.php I have custom post size created with “add image size” code.. and this size of featured image I call on post.. the problem is, there is no custom image size for thumbs imported by plugin.. actually there is only original image size.. can maybe this image be cropped by wordpress to custom image size?
