This issue is related to jQuery changes in 5.6. Installing “Enable jQuery Migrate Helper” and enabling legacy jQuery version makes it work again.
More proper fix involves changing line 20-in js/functions.js to:
headerImageHeight = $( '.header-image' ).length ? $( '.header-image' ).height() : 0,

I tried the Enable JQuery Migrate Helper and I’m afraid it didn’t work for me.

Same problem with Resonar. All my featured images have suddenly disappeared. I’ve changed to another theme but prefer Resonar so will keep an eye out to see if it’s ever fixed.

Switched back to Resonar theme today just to see how it went and it’s back to normal ??

Since I first raised this issue, there have been a number of suggestions/comments. The most recent on https://github.com/Automattic/themes/issues/2910 is that “This has now been fixed in r57711.” Unlike @clairejewitt, I fear the theme is still not working for me and there does not seem to be an upgrade to the theme. So, grateful if someone could explain what does “This has now been fixed in r57711” actually mean?

This is the name of the code deployment/update that relates to this bug.

If you’re not seeing this take effect, you should make sure that the theme is as up to date as it can be and also clear the browser cache. https://en.support.wordpress.com/browser-issues/#clearing-your-browser-cache

Also struggling a bit with the terminology.

The r57711 code deployment/update, is this a WordPress update in 5.6.1 or? According to the theme page it was last updated on the 8th of june in 2017, so it can’t be that, right?

Asking because my dashboard says the site is up to date, I have cleared the browser cache and the theme is still not displaying the featured images.

Like @thorirv, I am struggling to get the coding update. My version of Resonar is 1.0.8 which I see from the WP website is the latest version but it doesn’t work – even if the browser cache has been cleared.
