Featured image NOT showing up in posts header

  • Hope someone can provide help.
    Updated to new WordPress Version today.
    All of a sudden featured images are no longer visible in the header of posts. Instead there is just a black bar where the image should appear.
    (Customizer – single post – featured image in header is still ticked)

    Any ideas what the problem might be and how to troubleshoot?

  • Hello,

    Go to Customize > General Options > General Styling and select WP Head instead of Custom File. Clear cache and reload your site to view the changes.

    Thanks for your reply, Amit.
    Unfortunately nothing changes.
    Cleared cache, WP Head was selected already. (https://i.imgur.com/wVWwIUO.png)

    Any other ideas what might cause the problem?

    Have you added a featured image for your post? Try to re-upload the featured image for the post and check it works or not. If it still doesn’t work, then try disabling plugin one by one to check for a possible conflict.
    Also, try to update the PHP version if it is not PHP7.

    Hi Amit,

    thanks for your help. I found that plugin ‘ShortPixel Adaptive Images’ caused the problem.
    Everything’s back to normal now.
