Hi ??
My posts, in general, have a featured image set. However, I noticed today that this image is not showing up. So for example for the currently newest post (Craignure – Salen) the image is set via the “Set Featured Image” – nicely uploaded to the folder where it belongs, even shows in the post-editor in the “Set Featured Image” section, but not on the main page.
Some posts even show only a blue question mark in the “Set Featured Image” section of the post editor (rotating the image a couple of times and saving it new in the uploader seems to sort that out).

What I found by analyzing the code is that the code for the featured image now looks somewhat like this:

So all image urls are pre-fixed with an i2.wp.com/ while the image itself gets an url of “https://www.blog.lilleulven.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/07/20170825_130532_Scotland-e1532109812640.jpg?w=704&ssl=1”, which would work properly.

In private mode Firefox and Opera seem to be able to find the image, but Safari and Chrome are not. In “normal” mode none of these browsers, despite deleting the cache have been able to find the image.

Is this just me or is there something off?

Seems to be an issue of the Jetpack plugin, so I will ask there ??

Hello lilleulven,

I’m afraid I cannot help as I don’t use Jetpack myself. I also don’t use featured images, primarily because I’ve been unable to reconcile the inability to provide photo attribution for the featured images when viewed on the Home page.

I use a work-around of manually inserting my own image at the top of each post, which displays in place of the featured image on the home page just fine while also displaying photo attributes such as the caption with photo credits.

Sounds like you’ve identified a potential source for your issue, though. I hope you get it resolved!

Yes, it looks like the source is the image CDN of Jetpack. Disabling Photon within Jetpack helped to get the Feature image up again. So this weekend I hope to run the plugin to debug my installation and then hopefully this can get a final fix so that I can use Photon again.

As for photo attribution: since I am the one to take those photos they all simply have a watermark ?? – not the nicest way of doing things, but…it works. And since most of the time the photos within the article link to the same gallery on my website, it should be able to find that one as well. But yea, visible image attributes for the featured image would be nice…Maybe I’ll just add a link in the footer of those posts directly to the photo in the future. Got to think about that one for a night or two.
