Hi! For some reason, the featured image field doesn’t show up on the frontend. It is correctly uploaded, and I can see it on the media library list, but the published post doesn’t show it.

I’m on a staging site, and maybe that’s the problem, but I don’t want to go live until I make sure it works. Thank you!

    Hi there @codimex

It shouldn’t make any difference on a staging site.

When you view your post in the wp-admin post editor, do you see the image appearing in the Featured Image metabox?

Are you perhaps using a page builder with a custom templating system for your posts? If so, it could be that Forminator doesn’t recognize the method used by the page builder in that case, and we’d need to look into that. ??

If you’d like us to take a closer look at your form to see if there’s an issue there, please export it, and upload to a file sharing service like Dropbox or Drive. Then paste a link to the file here.

    Cheers!

    Hi, Patrick!

Thank you for your prompt answer. I hope this info will give you more hints about the issue:

    1) Yes, the image appears in the featured image metabox (as well as the media library).

    2) I’m not using a page builder (I’m a Gutenberg guy since the early days, hehe). Maybe if the custom post type is connected to the REST API could be a problem for that?

    3) I’ve exported the form here.

    4) This issue occurs with both custom post types and regular post types. On a side note, it seems that, if you don’t have any listed tag but the tag field is enabled, the feature field browser window doesn’t pop up when clicking the button “Upload image”.

    Thank youuuuu!

    Hi again @codimex

I just imported your form to my site, and it does appear to be broken; the Tags & Categories subfields are missing in the Post Data field in the backend.

When the form is submitted, it does appear in Forminator > Submission, but the draft post doesn’t even get created.

So I replaced the Post Data field in that form with a new one, and it creates a post as expected with the featured image.

Please import this form to your site to see if it works for you as well:

Oh, and I did notice the issue with the Tags subfield as well, so I’ll get that reported to the developers.

    Cheers!

    Hi again, Patrick!

Thank you for helping me with this. Your form didn’t work for me… BUT I imported it on a different site, different domain, and it worked, so the problem must be somewhere else, not in Forminator. The console log throws no errors, but I’ll take a deep look into the site to find the real issue.

Thank you for your readiness to help! At least, this thread served for targeting the issue with the tags subfield. ?? You can mark this as resolved.

    Hello @codimex ,

If I may suggest, try reinstalling Forminator on the site where the form is not working.

If that won’t work, the next step would be to run a plugin conflict test https://premium.wpmudev.org/blog/wordpress-plugin-conflicts-how-to-check-for-them-and-what-to-do/

    kind regards,

    Hey again @codimex

Glad to hear the form worked as expected on a different site. So yep, likely some conflict interfering with the plugin ion that first site.

And I discovered the empty tag / featured image issue was related to another odd jquery issue, and both will be fixed in the next release.

So keep your eyes peeled for updates. ??

    Cheers!

As a quick final note, if anyone reads this thread, I found the culprit: I’m using a webp image plugin that, for some reason, doesn’t recognize featured images submitted by Forminator. Hope it helps!
