Featured Image Doesn’t Show on Facebook

    How The Problem Started:

    After updating to version 11.5, featured image did not show when I shared post link on Facebook. I scrapped on Facebook’s Sharing Debugger and it said ‘missing og:image’.

    After around 20 minutes, I scrapped again and the problem went away. It did not matter how many times I scrapped during the first 20 minutes. The problem only went away after 20 minutes.

    I deactivated all plugins and changed theme to default in vain. I reversed Yoast SEO to version 11.4 and then to 11.3 to no avail.

    Every time I made new post, I had to wait for 20 minutes before sharing it on Facebook. I hoped newer update/version will fix it.

    I update to version 11.6 today. I cleared all cache (SiteGround and Cloudflare), but the the problem remains.

    This time with version 11.6, featured image won’t show up before 20 minutes after making new post as before. Instead, it shows ‘default image’ which I set it through Yoast – Social – Facebook – Default settings – image url.

    It does not matter how many times I scrapped on Facebook’s Sharing Debugger. It only resolves after 20 minutes of making new post. Its very frustrating to have to wait 20 minutes before sharing it on Facebook, every time I make new post.

    I contacted SiteGround for help, but they said everything is working fine on their part. They suggested to contact Yoast developers.

    Immediately after publishing a new post have you reviewed the source code of the page to see whether the og:image tag that is being output is correct? We have directions on how to view the source code of a page here: https://kb.yoast.com/kb/view-page-source-site/

    Its working fine now after updating my theme and cache plugin. The issues might be caused by incompatibility between cache plugin and Cloudflare.
