I am using WordPress 5.1 with a child version of Hestia. My child theme could not be more simple. There is only minimal code being used.

My problem is that when I put a featured image into a Page, it renders a thumbnail version of the image. I have tried using the recommended 1920 x 1080 image. No matter what I do, the header filter is rendering a .jpg file that is appended with this: 300×218.jpg. It is loading a thumbnail into the featured image/header.

I have tried changing setting > Media images sizes to all zeros. I have tried using different page templates. I also have tried switching to Hestia. This behavior is the same while using Hestia and my child theme.

The website is not live, so I cannot share a URL. I also cannot upload a screenshot.

    Thanks

This also happens with all Post featured images. I am talking specifically of individual Posts and Pages. Is this blurry image INTENTIONAL?! If so, I want to figure out a workaround for functions.php so it’s not blurry.

This issue is resolved. Here’s how I resolved it:

In my troubleshooting, I decided to change the default maximum image sizes in Settings -> Media. What I did was change all of these to zero. The thing that I did not do was to try to upload NEW images. For a full day, I kept using the old images and I kept having the same issues no matter what I tried. After I uploaded a new image with these new settings, the featured image looks great.

The default WordPress media settings were doing something to force image sizes. This was not good while using Hestia, in my experience.
