featured image attaching

    Can anyone point me to the functions which are handling uploading, attaching, resizing and cropping of featured image? I would like to add featured image automatically. I have a field(Advanced Custom Fields) which grabs data from IMDb. When adding a post I simply need to ad IMDb code and it grabs everything from IMDb and stores it in DB in custom field. I can also grab URL of main image from IMDb but I don’t know how to attach it to post and do resizing and cropping jobs. Anyone can help?

    OK so I figured out how to add attachment, the next question is how to let it pass through resizing and cropping process
