• We’re using “Structure Theme” for our blog. For 4 days (literally), I’ve been trying to get a featured image to show up in the feature section. Right underneath the “Featured Title” post (near the top of the blog page) there are two columns (Left=Image, Right=Text Widget).

The text widget works just fine and so does the “Featured Title” text above those two columns. But an image never displays under it, no matter what I do. The horizontal space where the image should appear does become much larger, so I know the instruction code is working–but it’s as if the image itself is hidden or missing.

Can someone tell me exactly where the problem is?

(I’ve worked with Dreamweaver for years, and I can’t believe how incredibly stupid the Featured Image post function is.)

    This theme: https://structuretheme.com/ ?

What code are you putting into the featured image field?

Have you posted in https://structuretheme.com/forum/ ?

Yes. This is the theme: https://structuretheme.com/

I’m not quite sure what you mean by “What code . . . ?” I’m not working in the edit screen. I’m simply populating the fields in “Add New Post” as I would for any other blog post in WP. Then I’m selecting “Upload/Insert,” navigating to the .jpg image file on my computer, uploading it, populating the pop-up screen, selecting “Use as featured image” (I’ve also tried different combination of this with the other options.), save and publish. I’ve tried every combination possible, as far as I can tell.

    No. I didn’t know there is a https://structuretheme.com/forum/. However, now I will.

This part is me ranting, so you can skip it.
Since I first signed up for wordpress with a host server a week ago, I’ve been browsing through and reading through the CODEX files. In my opinion that documentation is so scant it is an absolute embarrassment, or certainly should be. Nothing is described thoroughly and in detail. Everything is written as if the writers assume “Well, you get what I mean. If not, I’m sure you’ll catch on–sooner or later.”

WordPress is a marketing vehicle, so one would think that the individuals who stand to benefit should take the documentation more seriously than they apparently do.

Since this theme has its own dedicated forum which will (presumably) be manned by people who know the theme well, don’t you think you would be better served by posting there?

The Codex is a community effort – which means its written by people like me and you. So if you spot areas that need expanding, please feel free to join on and help keep the Codex updated.

Esmi, had you been reading carefully, perhaps you would have noticed that in response to the question “Have you posted in https://structuretheme.com/forum/ ?”I wrote “No. I didn’t know there is a https://structuretheme.com/forum/. However, now I will.”

I am quite well aware of what Codex is, and I made absolutely no mention of the frequency of updates. My point was that the depth and quality of what is written could stand improvement. Never reject constructive criticism. That is what pushes and pulls us to grow and improve.

Then start helping to improve it.

My first look at a WordPress file, from the inside, occurred four days ago, so at this point I’m still looking for answers to very basic questions. If at some point I genuinely believe that I have acquired some level of expertise with WP files, I–almost undoubtedly–would be be quite willing to share that expertise. Until that time, I will continue to do the only sensible thing–experiment and look for answers.

    Good day, dear!

Actually, it’s the new people who can BEST edit the codex, since we’re used to what it looks like and what it has ?? 4 days, still, come on by!
