Since events are not posts, that will not work.
A solution would be to assign another template to the special events page without title part and change the format of single events to show the featured image, then the title and then the rest of the event (using the available event placeholders).

Thank you so much for your quick reply!

I’m too inexperienced to implement your suggestion or even completely understand it, but appreciate it nonetheless.

I’ve read through much of the documentation and still don’t understand how to remove the title from a template or change the format of single events to show the image over the title. I’m sorry.

What I ended up doing is just adding the event shortcode to the event page. It means having both an event and a page for each show, but it’s worth it to me to have the header image: https://www.acrosstown.dreamhosters.com/gainesville-homegrown-local-playwrights-showcase/

Is there a simple way to redirect event links in the EME list widget to go to pages instead of the events if I use the same naming conventions for each? I.E, to link to
    https://www.acrosstown.dreamhosters.com/gainesville-homegrown-local-playwrights-showcase/”
    instead of
    https://www.acrosstown.dreamhosters.com/events/4/gainesville-homegrown-local-playwrights-showcase/”?

Thank you again! Maybe after some time I will better understand the intricacies of your plugin, which seems very robust ??

Play around with the setting “single event format”.
Concerning a seperate page: when creating an event, you can enter a url for it (more at the bottomo, that link will then be used in event listings.

Thank you, Franky– the external url is exactly what I need right now, but it doesn’t work (with either long name or short url)– the event information simply disappears :/

Without the external url, the information shows up just fine. Do you have any clues?

I’m not sure I understand you here …
When using an external url, no event info is shown for the single event.
What do you mean with “the event information simply disappears”?

Right now I have a page that contains a slug to the event. When I add the URL to that page to the event, the slug stops returning the event info.

That is because the moment you use the url-option, the “single” event no longer exists on its own, but only the link to it (which is replaced by the url of your choice in the event listing)

Ah. I misunderstood; that’s clearly not the solution to my problem. I’m on a tight deadline for this project, but I will try playing with the single event format at a later time.

Thank you for all your help, Franky
