Featured/first image is blank

For some reason, my first image shows up as a blank image. Not sure what is causing this.

One thing to note, this theme has a big feature image that looks inappropriate on the property page (it is giant and is above the main image carousel) so I suppress it through a css. If I don’t add a feature image, there is no picture associated with the archive or search results – it would be nice if I didn’t have to add it separately as a featured image.
