Featured Content no longer editable?

    I used to manually select the contribs that were featured on the homepage. I last did that only a few weeks ago. I used to get to the menu where i was able to select the featured content by opening the customizer on the front page and typing in the link (or deleting it vice versa) in the options shown there for “featured content”.

    Today i posted something new and wanted to put it up on the starting page – and in the process get rid of two older entrys there – but i cannot find that option anymore! It seems to have gone missing.

    I meanwhile clicked my way through the whole customizer for the start page but apparently i am not able anymore to edit that section at all.

    Any suggestions on that?

    The URL you provided where you need assistance is not accessible.

    If you are using the Custom Front Page and want to edit any sections, you can go to Appearance -> Customize -> HomePage Settings.

    If the issue you are facing is not the Custom Home Page, please share the screenshots of the issue and accessible URL.

    Hello @bagdesaurabh69! Please try again, the URL should hopefully now work for you. I had some IP-filtering active due to increasing attacks lately.

    The way you describe how it should be editable sounds about right. That’s where i usually went to do that. Only it doesnt show there anymore.

    Here is what i see under “Appearance” >> “Customize”:

    The Home Page options are available in the latest released Responsive theme.

    Could you please check the PHP error logs and console logs if there are any visible errors.

    An active plugin could also be having conflicts which may cause these issues.

    Run a conflict test –
    Take a full backup of your site before running this test:
    1. Deactivate all plugins.
    2. Check if the issue is there.
    3. If it is, switch to a default WordPress theme to see if this still is happening
    4. If all is well start enabling one plugin at a time, till the issue re-occurs.

    This way you could find the plugin that might be causing this issue.

    Mmmmhmm, the hint towards the plugins has, kind of, solved the issue for now.

    After deactivating CyberChimps “Responsive Ready Site Importer” the general Layout of my homepage reverted back to a Blog/Newsfeed based Style.

    That is okay for me right now so even though i am not 100% sure if and how i would be able to get back to the Homepage i was used to the last years, that is a functional solution for the moment.

    In my case, I was not using the plugin “Responsive Ready Site Importer”. I tried disabling all plugins, no change. I also looked through logs, and found no errors. There are a few 404s but they do not look related:

    If your issue is resolved after deactivating the plugin and the HomePage settings are now visible, you can go to Appearance -> Customize -> HomePage Settings and check the checkbox Enable Custom Front Page option to enable the Custom Front Page.

    Hello @silentioso,

    i deactivated CyberChimps “Responsive Ready Site Importer”. That deactivated my custom Front Page and switched it to a standard blog layout. That is how i run it now. It’s not perfect but okay for me as sort of a workaround.

    The issue itself is not solved in a technical sense, that’s why i did not hit that checkbox too. I as well still don’t see the option to switch back to a custom front page – @bagdesaurabh69: the “Home Page Settings” still don’t show under “Appearance” > “Customize”.

    I am having the exact same problem – where featured content is not editable anymore. Has there been a resolution to this. I have disabled all plugins and this made no difference.
